If you have answered “yes” to all the above questions, then please keep reading as the Volunteer Services Abroad (VSA) - Te Tūao Tāwāhi UniVol Programme is looking for motivated, service-minded and passionate graduates for our 2026 intake!
VSA’s UniVol programme aims to provide new graduates with a unique cultural experience in the Pacific while contributing to existing VSA programmes and improving international development education in New Zealand.

VSA is New Zealand's largest and most experienced volunteering agency working in international development. We provide skilled volunteers from Aotearoa to support organisations in the Pacific and beyond through capacity building, both in-country and virtually.
About the Assignment -
A VSA volunteer will provide support as the D-REAL (Digital Resources & Enhanced Academic Learning) Assistant that will play a key role in promoting student academic success by enhancing the use of digital learning resources and supporting academic skill development.
In this volunteer role, the individual will work closely with faculty and staff to implement educational technologies, strengthen academic skills, and assist students in building essential digital literacy and academic English language proficiency.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who is motivated, proactive, and a self-starter—passionate about using technology to improve learning outcomes and help students thrive in a digital academic environment
The Partner Organisation - St Peter Chanel Catholic College of Secondary Teacher Education (Ulapia).
The St. Peter Chanel Catholic College of Secondary Teacher Education is a newly established teachers' training institution and is part of the Catholic Archdiocese of Rabaul.
The St Peter Chanel Catholic College of Secondary Teacher Education (the “College”) was established to help address the chronic shortages in secondary school teachers for science and mathematics.
Since its establishment, the College has gone from strength to strength and continues to contribute to PNG’s ability to meet the shortage of trained teachers.
The College strives to ensure that graduated teachers are well-prepared to meet the demands of teaching science and mathematics pedagogies in secondary schools and have the requisite skills and knowledge to meet the needs of diverse learners.
The Country - Papa New Guinea
Most people living in Papua New Guinea (PNG) are Melanesian, but some are Micronesian or Polynesian. PNG has over 800 known languages although there are three official languages: Tok Pisin, English, and Hiri Motu. Numerous indigenous languages are still used by people from a society that ranges from traditional village-based life to modern urban living.
Underlying the Papua New Guinean culture is the wantok system. Wantok, or ‘one talk’, refers to the people who speak your language or your extended family/clan; a Papua New Guinean’s primary loyalty will be to their wantok.
The country is predominately Christian, with indigenous faith and spirituality still important to many locals.
The people of Papua New Guinea are famously warm and hospitable and the isolated mountain ranges are often home to unique fauna and flora found nowhere else in the world.

About You
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Information Technology, Digital Media, or a related field
- Demonstrated sound academic research and writing skills.
- Strong familiarity with online learning platforms, digital resources, and academic software
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate well with staff and trainee teachers.
- Ability to effectively explain concepts or ideas clearly and understandably.
- Experience using information and communications technology for academic purposes.
- Knowledge of academic writing, digital literacy, and strategies for supporting students in diverse learning environments
- Ability to help others learn through coaching or mentoring.
