The Isabel Provincial Government is mandated under the Solomon Islands Provincial Government Act 1997 and works with the national government on:
- Ensuring that socio-economic needs, current and future aspirations, socio cultural and environmental concerns, social justice and opportunities of the people of Isabel Province are given the best attention by having the government closer to the people
- Providing service delivery to the population of the province
- To enhance the quality of life of the people of Isabel by continuing to improve and sustain service delivery.
There are approximately 90 staff members, working in divisions which are responsible for certain sectors such as health, education, fisheries, forestry, and finance. The province works with the European Union, UNDP and JICA on various projects.
