Afutara Rural Training Centre (RTC) was established in 1974 as a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) missionary institute to provide technical and vocational education and training to young people across Malaita and other provinces. The school comes under the SDA Education Authority and is managed by a school board comprising the Director of the Education Authority, the Principal of the RTC, the Deputy Principal, Heads of Departments, a community representative and the Church pastor.
The RTC offers courses in carpentry, mechanics, life skills (including sewing and catering) and agriculture.
