The Vanuatu Tourism Office is a statutory body fully funded by the Government, but with a marketing budget provided by both the Government and the private sector. It has a board of 11 members of whom three are drawn from the government and the others are from designated positions in the private sector such as the Hotel Association, the Tour Operators Association and the Bungalow Association. The board appoints the General Manager.
The VTO's primary task is to market Vanuatu as a destination internationally. Their work is integrally linked with the Vanuatu Department of Tourism, which works to develop and monitor the Tourism products available. A concerted effort by the Vanuatu Tourism Office to market Vanuatu to its key markets, and an increase in air services to the country have combined to lift tourism arrivals significantly over the past ten years.
