Assist with the training of teachers at Rural Training Centres.
Vocational and Rural Training Centres (VRTCs) are dedicated to promoting improved livelihoods and greater economic opportunities for Solomon Islanders through vocational and village appropriate skills training. Vocational education in sustainable agriculture, health, water and sanitation, building construction and two stroke mechanics remains extremely relevant to the Solomon Islands as it contributes to improving rural livelihoods.
The key objective of this assignment is to assist to improve the standard of vocational training in Solomon Islands. This will be achieved through visiting and assessing the standards and needs of VRTC teachers at targeted VRTCs and then through developing and implementing an in service training plan for VRTC teachers. A significant component of this in-service training plan will involve the volunteer living and working alongside VRTC teachers and principals in a mentoring role.
This is a two year assignment and accommodation will be provided by VSA.
