Establish a network for the Division of Education with a view to linking other government divisions in the future.
The Division of Education has requested a volunteer to support the establishment of a Virtual Private Network, mentor local technicians to maintain the network, and ensure appropriate policies and regulations are in place to govern its use. VSA is recruiting for a qualified and experienced IT professional that is able to advise the Division at every level, from procuring equipment and installation to staff training needs.
Over the next five years the aim of the Division is to fully implement universal basic education. In order to raise its standard of operations, the Division has identified the need for a modern internal ICT network that links its many offices and functions. Although internet access has only recently been available in Bougainville, the arrival of a cellphone tower network and dongel modems in 2010 have made PNG-wide networking possible. Computer skills and ICT systems are relatively new to Bougainville, but the Division recognises the importance of an ICT network for effective inter-office communication.
This is a six month assignment and accommodation will be provided in Buka.
