Position Term: 2 years


Assist the Provincial Educational Authorities in Solomon Island provinces.

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) is mandated to oversee, lead and develop educational services in the Solomon Islands. MEHRD is responsible for setting education policy strategies and curriculum; writing national examinations; coordinating teacher training to ensure that the number of trained teachers in the Solomon's meets the growing young population; making salary payments to teachers and other sector staff; and issuing and auditing operational grants to schools and education authorities. 



Education Authorities (EA) are made up of both church and Provincial Government institutions. EAs are the line management bodies whose function is to both support and regulate the quality of the school management and teaching practice in their catchment of schools. Both church and Provincial Education Authorities receive operational grants from MEHRD. 



The volunteer will review and strategise ways to address the skill gaps of the Provincial Educational Authorities, and train the staff in all areas of education management, including financial management.

These are two year assignments and accommodation will be provided by the Provincial Education Authorities.
