Develop the capacity to deliver effective distance education in Arawa.
Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE) is the key distance education provider for secondary courses throughout Papua New Guinea. At the National FODE Centre in Waigani, Port Moresby, the subject programmes are developed, administered and distributed throughout the country. FODE was re-established in Buka in 1994. It is opening its Arawa sub-centre in April 2011. The objective of FODE in Bougainville is to provide an alternative means of education for as many young people as possible to achieve secondary education.
The volunteer will work with FODE supervisors and distance teachers to ensure professional development plans are in place and are well supported; students are able to access secondary education though the Arawa FODE sub-centre; and the Arawa Sub-centre is well managed with efficient and effective operational systems and processes in place.
This is a two year assignment and basic, furnished accommodation will be available in Arawa.
