Position Term: 2 years

Support the development of ‘Living Without Violence’ courses for men.

Leitana Nehan Womens Development Agency (LNWDA) was founded in 1992 at the height of the ten-year armed Bougainville conflict.  Their primary objective is to promote non-violence, gender equality and social development in Bougainville.  Along with other objectives, LNWDA wants to offer men the chance to be educated about the dynamics of violence, and through structured courses it hopes men will learn and practice non-violent means to resolve differences.

For this assignment, the volunteer will work alongside an experienced local facilitator to review the current programme, and train local facilitators to implement ‘Living Without Violence’ courses for men in Bougainville.  The volunteer will also assist in the development of a ‘Living Without Violence’ manual, designed for Bougainville and written in Tok Pisin, and available for use by local facilitators.

This is a two year assignment and the volunteer will be housed in a flat/house near Buka.
