Each August people across New Zealand buy colourful hand-woven friendship bracelets to support the work of VSA volunteers in developing countries. In 2012, VSA Project Friendship 2012 takes place 6-12 August.
Each bracelet costs $3 and 100% of all the money you raise will support VSA volunteers working with young people on issues such as child rights, HIV and AIDS and the envrionment.
This year New Zealand hip hop soul artist Ladi6 is supporting Project Friendship. Ladi6 actually puts her music-making roots down to the time she spent as a teenager living in Tanzania while her parents were on a VSA volunteer assignment!

"I believe in the positive change volunteers have on the communities they become involved with. I have witnessed the incredible evolution first hand, I am proud and honoured to be a supporter of Project Friendship."

This year why not take Project Friendship to the next level by getting involved in VSA's Big Project Friendship Fundraising Challenge? We're hoping your school can help us send more volunteers to countries such as Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste to share their skills with local communities to help children just like you.
You could organise:
The money you raise will really help us in our work. Just tell us when you register that you want to take part in the Big Project Friendship Fundraising Challenge and we'll send you an ideas pack in the post. Don't forget to send us a photo of you fundraising.
This year, three new UniVols will be blogging throughout Project Friendship, giving you a real insight into life as a VSA volunteer. We'll be introducing them soon. In the meantime, why not read the blogs Mattie, Catherine and Tom wrote last year for Project Friendship?

In 2011 we raised almost $70,000. This year people will also be able to buy the $3 bracelets from The Body Shop and Levi stores throughout New Zealand, and 99 Four Square stores in the lower North Island.
