Arawa Urban Council (AUC) in its current form was set up in 2002. Prior to the ‘crisis' a comparable, but very well resourced body existed. The current Council is endeavouring to re-build its capacity to provide the sorts of infrastructural services that could be regarded as standard for a small urban population.

The volunteer will support the Council to develop and maintain public works, including water supply, roads and general infrastructure. AUC is also responsible for overseeing maintenance of government houses and keeping grass in public areas cut.

This is a two-year assignment and furnished accommodation is provided by VSA.

Applications close: 23 August 2009

Please note all applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents (with the right of re-entry) who have lived in New Zealand preferably for a period of at least two years.
