1779 - Principal, Solomon Islands

The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MERD) is mandated to oversee and lead the development and delivery of education in the Solomon Islands. It is responsible for setting education policy and curriculums, the training, employment, payment, inspection and promotion of education staff, issuing and auditing of school grants, setting and regulation of examinations and the delivery of in-service training to teachers.

King George VI High School is in a unique relationship with MERD in that it is one of two state run high schools in the Solomon Islands. They are looking for a volunteer who can put appropriate school management systems in place, arrange effective in-service training for teaching staff and enhance the ability of the of Deputy Principal and senior staff to effectively manage and lead the school. This is a two year assignment and the partner organisation will provide basic, furnished accommodation.
