Arawa High School is situated in Arawa, a once prosperous coastal town. It was closed during the Bougainville crisis and reopened in 1995. It currently caters only for students of grades 9 and 10. The school has an In-Service Coordinator who is responsible for implementing the new reform curriculum.

The School is looking for an experienced English teacher to assist local teachers in implementing the English curriculum in the classroom and run workshops to support the training of teachers in Bougainville. Two other In-Service Teacher trainers will be based at Asitavi High School (Mathematics) and Hutjena Secondary School (Science). Skills transfer will occur with the Coordinators during training programmes and workshops, and with local teachers on a day to day basis. This is a two-year assignment and basic furnished accommodation will be provided.

Applications close: 24 September 2008

Please note all applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents (with the right of re-entry) who have lived in New Zealand preferably for a period of at least two years.
