The Bougainville Regional Forestry Office was established under both the Autonomous Bougainville Government (Economic Services) and the National Forestry Service (PNG) from where it receives funding. The Forestry Office's direction lies in the development of home-grown Bougainville policy, plans and guidelines that reflect the small scale nature of operations that currently exist. The Regional Forestry Officer is confident in the implementation of plans but, as policy and guideline development is new, seeks the assistance of a volunteer in these areas.

The Forestry Office is looking for an experienced Forestry Advisor to assist them in developing forestry policy that supports environmental, economic and socially sustainable management practices that are specific to Bougainville. This is a two-year assignment and basic furnished accommodation will be provided by VSA.

Applications close: 3 December 2008

Please note all applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents (with the right of re-entry) who have lived in New Zealand preferably for a period of at least two years.
