Hutjena Secondary School (HSS) was established in the 1950s on Buka Island. It was the first high school in the province to implement secondary reforms in education and currently offers classes from Grade 9 to 12. It is a co-educational boarding school and all staff and students reside on campus.
The school is looking for a qualified, experienced youth/social worker or counsellor to establish programmes addressing personal, social and career issues for students, and to train local teachers to develop skills to contribute towards the personal development of students at the school. This is a two-year assignment and basic furnished accommodation is provided.
