Develop the community education resources and services at the Umtata Child Abuse Resource Centre.

DOWNLOAD

The Umtata Child Abuse Resource Centre (UCARC) is a non-profit organisation that works from a child rights perspective to prevent child abuse, neglect and exploitation in Mthatha and the surrounding areas. UCARC was founded in 1996 in response to a perceived increase in the number of reported cases of child abuse. At the time there were no structures in place in the area to deal effectively with this issue.

UCARC's focus is on prevention activities and it is the only resource centre of its kind in the Eastern Cape. UCARC's core prevention strategies are to carry out education and training programmes and advocate around children's rights.

The UCARC is looking for a Community Education Advisor to strengthen the capacity of their training facilitators and programmes and improve the dissemination and reach of UCARC's resources and information materials to the communities. This is a two year assignment and basic furnished accommodation is provided by the partner organisation.

Applications close: 24 October 2008

Please note all applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents (with the right of re-entry) who have lived in New Zealand preferably for a period of at least two years.
